Location: NAU base and research installation on the shores of Lake Michigan
Setting: The darkest hour before dawn in a sprawling lab facility that extends out over the black waters
Forces: A pack of crusading L'na (L'NA: DAWNS AND TWILIGHTS) may have bitten off more than they can chew when confronted with NAU-trained monstrosities (HOSTILE HANDS: RACE OF NEW EARTH).

400 Setup: Many Apoc have the misguided belief that the L'na give up too easily sometimes. In truth, the L'na have the uncanny ability to choose their battles, often with devastating results. Such is the case with NAU Research Base Zulu. For years this research facility has huddled on the shore of Lake Michigan, using the aquatic boundary as a defensive bulwark. The L'na have known that whenever the NAU captures something "unusual" in the field, the creatures are brought to this base. The L'na have heard all the rumors about the dissections and experimentation done on the strange races that appeared after the Event. Slys-ayr, krieg and even stranger creatures are confined in perpetual "observation" at this base.
Twilight Remembered
The harsh, flickering light of a chemical camp fire outlined the silhouette of over a dozen men against a stark, desert landscape. The pungent tang of burning sterno mingled with the scent of gun oil and day old sweat. The men, each heavily armed and clad in body armor and desert fatigues, huddled close to the foul, smelly fire to fight the chill of the clear night. As if hesitant to break the silence, they sat together quietly and cleaned weapons or stared into the distance.
Overcome by impatience, a young soldier with dark hair spoke. "How far away are they?"
Closing the breach of his rifle with a resounding snap, an older man in a perfect, unwrinkled uniform covered in medals and insignias answered without looking up. "At least a day's hike to the advanced scouts, Wilson. We'll leave at dawn, meet up with Commander Austin's 4th Battalion by noon, and get ready to engage the Kliks the following day."

Hailing from a world where magic is the basic building block of life, the L'na are a mystical race generally given to the tenants of subtle balance and harmony with the world around them. Physically, L'na resemble animals, but they are far from simple beasts: they are, in fact, highly intelligent and spiritual beings that are the apex of magical "evolution" on Ai, their home-world.
L'na favor all animals, and yet no particular animal, all at once – seeming to be a primordial organism of transition from which any known animal might emerge. In fact, many L'na have the ability to fluidly morph from 
one from into the next: one moment bearing the supple scales of a serpent and in the next, the iridescent feathers of a tropical bird, or the shimmering exoskeleton of an insect.
Shadows of the Mind, Part 6
Shadow flew through the air where the creature had been. He hit the ground hard and lashed out, quickly striking down the remaining undead. The swamp had grown quiet; hardly a noise could be heard. The new creature had disappeared, right in front of his eyes and Shadow had no clue where it had gone. He stood for a second, his breath haggard and sharp, weakly stretching out his senses. It seemed darker than it had been. Shadow wasn’t sure how or when that had happened, but he was fairly sure he had been the one responsible.
A light suddenly interrupted his contemplations. The L'na turned, slightly relaxed from his attack posture. This light was a familiar one. "An interesting and unseen development. Quite a few actually. I had been expecting anything of this nature." Shadow recognized the voice easily enough. It was the guide, speaking through its odd portal of light.

Character Description/Notes: Greenslick has been a lover of vibrant life since her inception, tending to the flora and fauna along Ai's muggy banks. Her's was the task of keeping the algae and aquatic world in harmony, blending the balance of its invisible parts with those most seen in a curious splendor. She felt her time would come to merge with Ai along those timeless banks, with their ever flowing tides drawing new wonders past her domain on their slow drifting path to the Emerald Sea. Greenslick reveled in this legacy, her calling both adventurous and secure.
