Ai

Ai, the L'na home world, is powerfully beautiful — it conjures images of the most perfect vistas Earth has to offer. Idyllic scenes that are the stuff of human legend and fairytale exist throughout the L'na home world, made all the more vibrant by the living magic that flows through everything; except here, it's all real and tangible. Ai contains mountains that soar to impossible heights, rushing rivers so mighty that their roars shake the very foundations of the world, and forests so lush and primeval and pure that it seems a travesty to tread within them.

Magic is the lifeblood of the world, and the L'na claim Ai and magic are synonyms — their word for magic is "ai." The whole bounteous ecology of the world has evolved to feed on the abundance of magic; from its smallest organisms to its greatest creatures — the L'na — everything is sustained by the ebb and flow of magic.

Except for the points where outsiders have made their mark upon Ai, or the handful of L'na sacred sites, the entirety of the world is undeveloped and wild. While the L'na are the dominant species of Ai, their population is small compared to the Apoc or Klik and they have no desire to build — they live amongst the world as all the other beings of Ai. As a result, visitors to Ai need to be wary because the world is untrammeled and life is so abundant. Magic is part of the diet of every native, but there are still predators that like the taste of flesh… and others may take a bite of a visitor just to have a taste of something different. Danger may come in all shapes and forms on Ai — from animals, to plants, to even the land itself.

Ai is a world unlike any other, not only because of the magic that flows through it but also because it isn't actually a true "world" in form. Ai doesn't hang in space or circle a star — the sky grows brighter and gets darker like a regular day, but there is no sun or moon… and, until the Event, there had never been stars in the night sky. It is somewhere else, but no one can say where that "else" is. The L'na claim you can walk a number of paths around the Ai and return to where you started, but they don't understand how it is done. Also, one final facet of Ai promises to astound and confuse travelers: whole regions — mountains, plains, forests, etc — have been known to shift. One day the region exists in one location, and the next day it is somewhere else.

Ai is simply a fairytale… one filled with mystery, danger, and wonder.
