"BBBbbbuuuzzzzzzZZZZZZ Off!"

Character Description/Notes: 8V%%54VV (a.k.a. Buzzsaw) is one of the early "01 models" of Klik Tripods, and has been in operation for a long, long time. As such, he's developed quite a large number of odd ticks and repetitive behaviors, most of which are in the physical realm, as opposed to the verbal. Buzzsaw actually is very quiet, rarely speaking unless it is to say his name, (which sounds like a saw revving up), which seems to be used for various parts of his vocabulary. It seems that Buzzsaw would rather let his incredibly sharp blades do all the talking for him.

Buzzsaw was one of the first tripods to be sent out into Ai, the L'na world, and has gathered some interesting data as a result – the problem is getting the information out of him in an intelligible manner. Also, recently, he's begun zizzing and spitting about "THE VOICE", but all the other tripods around him just write it off to yet another of his odd behaviors. However, it is these very facts that the Klik Roller "201132" has been dispatched to find him. Apparently only a few Klik are receiving this odd signal.

Despite his hard, hammer-forged head, Buzzsaw is beginning to realize that the more time it spends on Ai, the more "awake" or "connected" it seems to feel. No longer does Buzzsaw see the world in the simple black and whites of restrictions and directives, but its crimson-lensed orbs are opening to the wider world around it. Stray thoughts which contain concepts of good, evil, right, and wrong are seeping into its hard-wired, Great Machine-given logic. Buzzsaw is beginning to see the literal rainbow of possibilities that surround it. Buzzsaw's not sure if this has anything to do with the VOICE, or with the fact that its learned that Klik Roller 201132 is coming after it, but it has made up its mind -- for once in its long existence:

Its not ready to return to the Great Machine just yet...

Tactics: Buzzsaw is no nonsense when it comes to combat – it makes little difference to him if he's slicing apart trees, stones, or flesh and bone – in his small, singularly-focused mind, it'll all make fuel in the end. For any opponents that do not fall to his powerful saws (which are not many) Buzzsaw falls back to his flame-based powers or his adamantine shears to aid him in combat.

Role-playing Hook
Buzzsaw's not a talker, so if you're a player who dislikes the "role-playing limelight", then this tripod is for you. Buzzsaw's much more than a mute basher, however, as the Klik can easily be a "deep thinker" who relies on actions more than words. However, when the massive, steam-driven stoic does chose to speak, it demands everyone's attention!

 

Sense Hook
With Buzzsaw, the strongest sensory hook is probably SOUND. Buzzsaw often uses the sounds of his whirling saws or churning blades as part of its vocabulary. Adding these in as a player is really easy and makes for more memorable character. GM's, when using Buzzsaw as an NPC (non-player character) can use the same tricks, but take it one step further: use it as a code! The players will have to puzzle out which whirs mean "yes" and which buzzes stand for "no"!

Adventure Hook
The Great Machine sends out a call for assistance. One of it's tripods, 8V%%54VV (a.k.a. Buzzsaw) has gone missing and the Great Machine wants it back. This call goes out to Klik and non-Klik alike; the Great Machine is willing to provide free upgrades for Klik and very intriguing clockwork devices and items to those "Fleshlings" who are able to succeed in this mission. The only problem: Buzzsaw's been "out of range" from the Great Machine for so long - it doesn't want to come back!

Game Master's Hook
Buzzsaw is "the" Iconic Klik Tripod, so he's great to use to introduce your players to what those fellows are like. Tripods are brawny, tough-as-nails bashers who possess a surprising amount of versatility as well, so don't forget that when running one. Set your players up by leading them to believe that Buzzsaw's just a slicing and dicing machine and the hit them with a "Vent Steam" Power Card attack or impress them with Buzzsaw's "Eidetic Memory" Power Card!

Battle Hook
There's no doubt that Buzzsaw is a front-line fighter when it comes to Battle. Tripods have a naturally high VIT and they're made for taking damage. Feel free to tromp this Tripod up to your front line to waylay your opponents or provide cover for other Characters or Minions with mid to long range attacks. Don't forget to utilize Buzzsaw's deadly "Saw" Power Card, as it automatically slices an opponent's VIT in half!
