Starting the Role-Playing Game
The simplest method for your gaming group to get going is to collectively pick up a copy of the Core Starter Set. It has 6 pre-created "Iconic" characters, Minions (bad-guys) for the GM and even more goodies. It's also an amazing bargain at only $30 — the decks it includes would cost over $50 if purchased separately, and it includes everything your group will need to run a basic game for less than the cost of one book in many other systems! The Starter Set gives an excellent feel for the Untold game system, supporting players through a decent number of encounters and giving them a taste of character advancement.
This could be further extended, at minimal cost, by adding one or more of the following sets:
- Basic Drains (several of the Minions inflict Drains as part of their attacks)
- Basic Traits
- Core Combat
- Basic Skills
Starting the Battle Game
Each player should pick one of the Battle Faction sets, listed below, and the group as a whole should pick up one each of the Basic Banes and Basic Drains sets.
