First off, I know I've got some other projects going, but I wanted to go ahead and get this down here so as not to forget it later.

Also note: I have no clue where to stick these guys.

Somewhere in the world of Apoc Earth is a region that all knowingly avoid called The Toybox. As the stories go, back around when the Event first left its mark on the universes, a handful of Klik were transitioned to Earth. But the transition was not kind to them; they forgot everything about their identity. The machine that they called home had no meaning to them, their individual designations forgotten, all sense of self lost.

As they wandered the land they were on they observed life. They saw squabbling, eating, breeding. In some innocent yet hopeless endeavor they attempted to follow this example like soulless dolls. However, in spite of all their efforts to behave like organic creatures, they simply could not. And so they set to work.

They modified themselves with horrible teeth, a mere mockery of what nature intended. They began to become aggressive for no reason other than it was what they observed in others. They devoured life and each other. But something was lacking. Yes, no modification would permit them children. How sad they were that they could not make more of themselves. That is until a high-bred squad came to survey the area.

At first, these Dolls were cautious of these new creatures. At night they would steal into the night and take one, see what it could do, if it was a threat. They discovered something vast in the potential of the helpless soldier. A snip here, a cut there, removal of some extraneous tissue, all the while replacing parts... They had a child, granted the frame-work was bone and there was some loose skin here and there, but it was sufficient. A friend like them, a child of their own, with no identity and no soul.

The rest of the squad disappeared the very next night only to undergo horrible torture as the Dolls sought to create more children. They learned more than they could have ever hoped for from their new children. How delighted they were to know there were other candidates for their family nearby! It seemed not far off there were creatures known as Churl and L'na. The very next night they set to work... Their family would be so big by the end of it....

Now, no one goes to The Toybox...

hurm...

Hurm...nice little touch of horror there. With some modification, I might actually have a perfect spot for this... :)

Why thank'e

Thanks. MHM pointed out they'd have to be isolated. Island group? He said other Klik would come and just go "Hey, you're us, come here." But in my mind's eye, they're so damaged mentally that they'd just try and incorporate them in as well.

I actually got the idea from some artwork for Untold that I saw. I had NO idea what it was, but it looked like a dessicated L'na that had Klik modifications, which is what made me realize how cool a sort of 'necro-cult' Klik entity would be. As I was describing it to MHM, he pretty much agreed that it was pretty spooky.

It was pretty easy to think out. So far I haven't seen a single Klik that doesn't somehow relate to the Great Machine, identity-wise.

Creepy!

I like them - not cyborgs, some strange amalgm stitched together. Do the Klik view a body as a series of systems to the point that they can keep the biological components functioning indefinitely? Maybe some clockwork contraption with pumps and valves and pipes keeps some strange solution of needed nutrients moving through the tissue and keeping it viable. Yuck. This idea is awesome.

In my head....

Non-Klik dolls are definitely not cyborgs. The 'body' is used like framework. In some instances, yeah, the host body can sustain itself indefinitely. Others may look more like corpses being powered along by machinery. There's no real rhyme or reason to their constructs. The end goal is to make another family member, but they don't have a designated list of features for equipping onto a person.

I think the thing that really ramps up the creep factor is that Dolls aren't hostile intentionally. They don't think they're doing anything wrong either. They're innocent monsters.
