Imagine if all the most interesting parts of the 1800s were slammed together. Early industrialism blends with Gilded Age monopolies. H.G. Wells mixes with Edgar Allen Poe. Tesla, Edison, and Babbage merge with the Pinkertons and colonial politics. All of it maintains an outer facade of Victorian sensibilities, but on any deeper investigation it is as rotten as the worst parts of Jack the Ripper’s Whitechapel London. Now take it all, make a civilization out of it, and run that civilization off city-sized power plants that are on the verge of absolute failure. That is Steamfunk.
...and it's coming soon...
What format will this be available in? pdf, hardback?
I'd love to see this in print maybe using rpgnow's POD..... Not sure what it entails, but I would pretty much be a lock to buy it. I'm a sucker for the genre and this sounds like an incredible take on it, plus we can use current cards....
This proves the genius behind the scenes in Ignitus and the Wandering Men--as well as the creative and skilled innovators who labored with them (ManyHattedMan, that would be you :)!!!
I loved the beautiful leather cover, the interlaced borders, and totally Victorian feel to an otherwise futuristic entity. So, the setup and premise are awesome, if you wanted to know from an more "outside" perspective. :)
Thanks guys for this cool preview!
Thanks, all! We really need your help getting the word out about this one; talk about it online, call your friends, post about it on Facebook, tweet about it - whatever! Feel free to share this preview with anyone!
In terms of format, initially, it will be pdf, but we're also planning on a POD (still working out where it will be offered; we have the capability in house, but we're also looking at Drivethru and Lulu)... :D
I'm kinda torn on this product. It looks like a solid concept, and I feel Untold will handle it far better than a level-based system would. However, it's not really my cup of tea.
I dig Splintered Serenity, but I only found Untold because I was hunting for Sci Fi. Now, if Ignitus releases a Space Opera setting... :P
Now yer talking, TL! That's the point of this product, really. We want to show folks just how incredibly flexible a system Untold really is - for some folks you (sadly) have to beat them over the head with it before they "get it".... As such a Space Opera setting is completely within the realm of possibility...
Now, I just gotta find someone who wants to write it... :P
Well, you need to get vehicles worked out so that we can have our own tricked-out starfighters... or dreadnaughts!
:P
Yeah, that would be the big issue at the moment.
HOWEVER, the philosophy, factions, races and wars (history) going on can be completed.
Big battles can be conducted somewhat "aesthetically"--characters with mechanic skills can repair and utilize ship systems, ranged specialists could operate anti-starfighter turrets, while Artillery Fire makes a good battery barrage...the posibilities for Character play are endless, even if the overall vehicle mechanics still live in the realm of "GM Fiat."
TL/Ashy, I have some rough designs that could get worked on. I'll email you both with what I have (Though it's no Space Opera, it is sci fi)
Space Opera or Scifi, with the card swapping, now you too can grin roguishly when you say, "She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts. I've made a lot of special modifications myself."
LK, I love you. I've missed those precision-based weapons of literary genius. LOL!
Yes!
I feel that the mechanics of Untold would make any game more "Heroic" than normal. It doesn't matter how "dark" or "light" the setting is, when you can Swap in "Mad Hops" you're talking "Space Opera"! Which, by the way, IS A GOOD THING! :D
Hey now, fair credit goes to me here too. I was the creative mind behind Steamfunk. MHM was the person who put it all into words. ALL OF IT. I just saw MHM getting credit and I didn't want to be relegated to the sidelines in this endeavor.
Also, I'll be running a campaign in this setting with my friends soon too. If SteamFunk is successful enough, MHM and myself will try and keep content updated.
MHM is sitting right by me. He wants me to be sure to point out that I did in fact help with the writing and that he did in fact help with the story and creation.
Hey M3!
BTW: Ashy mentions both you and MHM in the VLOG in regards to Steamfunk! So yes, he credited you!
Also, in the Preview: Written and Developed by: Stephen Coburn and Christopher Bradley
I'm guessing that these two characters are you and MHM! :P
M3, forgive the oversight, I was torn as to whether to include your name or not, and realize I should have done so liberally. Thanks for creating this lucid and intriguing concept we have come to know as Steamfunk! :)
I thought I'd mention it Ashy, but the book looks GORGEOUS! I love every single detail. Did Hall do most of the artwork?
Thanks, M3! :D I cannot reveal the secret source of our artwork, but thanks! :D
What comes next? What can I go ahead and tease them with? I'm dying to get more info out on the table!
I think you guys should write up a little "bonus content" - like maybe the characters you created in playtest. We might not have art for it, but they'd be cool to see nonetheless! :D If you guys want to, please run it by me and I will post it in an Official manner. :D
I'll talk to MHM about it.
Groovy! Even if ya don't get it done before we launch, we can always release it after as bonus content. :D

Not sure why this was locked - fixed now.
