Ok, so this isn't a question about summoning. It's about pets, familiars, and mounts.
So, what does the community think about this question? I know we brought it up a ways back, but I can't find where. Anyways, my house rule is the following: You can use a mount, pet, or familiar but unless you have a killer backstory for why it's with you, then you have to take it's UP out of your own. If you've got a great backstory, then it's free. But either way, you can't use any additional powers to boost it.
So, what are your thoughts?
Er...the new Beta-Test cards that are in Untold: Elite right now cover this. Those cards are not just for summoning - they are also for minions, companions, pets, mounts, etc. AND we really need some play-test feedback! :D
Honestly, that sounds like a working thing if you ask me. Mounts though I'd just say you don't pay any extra UP on it, but you can't control it unless you're in a control position, which is typically riding.
I've left some initial impressions. This thread is for all those who don't have access or have alternative ideas for mounts and pets. I'm less concerned with minions, more concerned with pets.
A while back I suggested using minion cards as Story Swaps, so you'd gain an ally but lose room in your swap buffer. (Someone wanted a pet NAU Wardog.) The ally didn't take damage per se but might end up being downgraded.
(I thought it was from a thread I started called "House Rules" or something similar - can't find it either.)
Pets would be considered companions.... :)

I think the WM have a great solution forthcoming in their Elite section that will detail a balanced and great way to include both animals/familiars/mounts and granting unique abilities without breaking the system. I like what you have done here, though, and in the current state of the game, I'd probably allow something similar. I'd go for a UP-break with a reasonable backstory, too, especially since most of the current creatures are voracious carnivores that don't mind putting PCs on the menu.
A frustrating fusion of Elan and Durkon. Shake the 8 ball and you may get some fantastic advice or some clueless answer. What will it be for you today? Intelligence dump stat or Wisdom modifier?
