1st Lieutenant Edward Taylor, also known to his few comrades as "Big Ed," is an Intelligence and Reconnaissance officer based out of Fort Leonard-Wood. Heavy-set and six-foot tall, he a grimacing, ugly bald man sporting a black goatee. He speaks little when not in battle, and prefers to keep company with a bottle of whiskey.
He often leads his elite team SFOD-S, codenamed Sabre, on intelligence gathering operations within the Flux Zone. Unlike the other special operation teams based out of FLW, the Sabre is not a volunteer force per se. Indeed if such were the case, the Sabre would most likely never have any members. The team is not assigned difficult missions, it is assigned suicide missions.
Members are selected by lot from the entire enlisted database for a two year hitch in the team. Few ever rotate out. A codehead at FLW once remarked that the average life expectancy of any member of the Sabre was approximately 14 months, give or take a few days. Those who "win" the lottery take up their charge with bitterness, knowing that any set of orders they receive are likely to be their last. However, they realize the importance of their missions and serve with a sort of suicidal dignity, often talking of their glorious deaths at the hands of some yet unseen Flux Horror.
As part of Sabre training, each member is injected with advanced nanomachines, capable of altering their own bodies with surprising ease. Wounds heal within minutes, and their reflexes are so sharp even the genetically engineered High-Breds look slow by comparison.
This is a work in progress.

This is very similar to the guy I ran at POC. I did not have all the cards requires, so I just ran him as a minor variation of Sarge.
I'm still working on the basic idea and trying not to make it too stereotypical.
Remember that Untold allows for every character imaginable. A very memorable Highbred was Charles (cjfodel on the forums) played a flux-warped Highbred. It was very cool, and he did an excellent job playing him. Now...did I want to make things more interesting, and after the third time in a row he used his flux powers, I had him turn into a flux twisted monstrocity that attacked and drained the souls of all the living creatures around him? Yes. But in my defense, it made the game far more interesting. Anyways, the point of the story is, you can introduce any powers you like. Want a Highbred who's good with a gun and can read minds? Great. Or maybe he's gotten in touch with his spiritual side and instead of using a gun, he breaths fire and controls lightning. Its all up to you....:)
I am more concerned about the character concept rather than the powers behind him. I tend to be very role-play intensive in spirit (I still play a MUD after all), even if every game does not allow me to express that.
To me the powers are more about expressing your character concept in what you can do.
You might want to check into the Basic Powers and other core decks...Might have stuff you're looking for...
I've actually ordered them all. Every Untold deck out there.
I guess that makes me a fanatic.
You're in good company - namely, mine. =) I own more decks "officially" than the creators do!
True dat - MHN does own nore cards than the WM. Sad, but true.
I'm like you, Brantly. I also tend to use my Power Cards as a "palette" from which I paint the image of my character. ;)
EDIT: re-read what you added above - cool stuff. Yer gonna LOVE Vital Resources!

Is this LT? The guy you played in my game @ POC? If so, super cool! Glad to see the build! I would LOVE to hear more about Sabre!!! Sounds groovy!!
