So I have the Core Starter set. Completely undecided on what to buy next though. I am torn between buying stuff for me as the GM or the players. Having not run it yet not sure which character types the players are going to get excited about arrrrgh going mad with indecision :-)
Fair point, I did fancy the Flux Horrors and their powers as I have some seeds for sessions relating to them. I was just thinking about giving the players loads of choice. However due to Untolds swapping rules if I add cards later they like better they can always swap old cards out anyway. Will go off and have a think :-)
I suggest the following:
For a good intro campaign- Bad Beginnings, all 3 decks. With the adventure online, its a great way for you as a GM to learn the system, and help the players learn it as well.
For building onto your minion and power base- All of the Battle with their accompanying powers. Also the Environment decks and Hostile Hands. It might not hurt to pick up Melee Weapons and Lock'n'Load to provide "rewards" for your players.
Hope this helps!
My first order was:
1× Starter (Core): Starter Set
1× Powers (Core): Core Combat
1× Powers (Core): Basic Traits
1× Powers (Core): Basic Skills
1× Powers (Core): Melee Weapons
That was more than enough to decide whether to get more, and if Untold would "work" as I expected it to. Since you already have the Starter Set, I would consider adding in the "Basic Drains" deck (several of the minions in the Starter have Draining Powers). Then play the game and make further purchases based on experience. Everything really is useful (not just marginally), but some things may show up in play as more urgent than others.
That, or just commit to getting one of every deck, buying in stages if need-be, playing catch-up once per quarter. That's my plan (and I'm a bit behind).
Good suggestion Bob, I guess I need basic drains if nothing else. I will then draw up a priority list and go from there. I think I will probably get 1 of everything at some point, just need to decide in what order to buy.

LOL! Well, luckily you have enough in the Starter to fit pretty much any kind of Player. If you MUST buy more (which is fine with me), then I would advise getting something for you, the GM. Let the players mess around with the Iconics in the Starter Set and then let them grow/build their own kind of character.
Of course, one of the awesome things about Untold is that no matter what you get as a GM (even the Minions), it can ALL be used by the Players too! Very quickly, you'll find your players wanting to borrow that "spare" Alchemical Still" or "M210 Assault Rifle" from your pile of GM goodies; and with Untold - it's easy! :D
My 7 year old daughter just played a character built off a "Draft Rider" that I had from Environments: Mountains, so even the Minions can be characters!
Untold Co-Creator/Wandering Man!
