Did you read the related entry about box jellyfish? I'd never heard of them and I've lived most my life near the beach. (Atlantic, mind you, but it's still an ocean.) Now I understand why some beach warning systems include purple flags for dangerous marine lifeforms. (Sharks? Pshaw! They're not as scary as jellyfish!) Although "Irukandji syndrome" sounds like it should be something more sinister than just an instant heart attack.
