Quick notes on CUBE 29

OK just getting to posting about this. We had two demo games with a total of 5 new players actually play the game. We had over a dozen stop and ask about it, but most were in a tournament and unable to try it.

The first game was run by my friend Drew and involved clearing a NAU fort of undead. The first player created an NAU solder and was the mission commander (supplemented by myself and the other GM Chuck). We made part of the way in when he had to leave. He enjoyed the game and said he would like to introduce it to his group so he went away with a copy of the starter set. The second player took over the NAU soldier and completed the mission. He was on his way from Watertown (Ft. Drum) to a LARP and said his barracks mates back at Drum would enjoy the game and he would like to have it as a back up to the LARP in case it fell through. He also walked away with a starter.

The second game started when a couple of Yugioh players asked about the game. They had finished their game and decided to try it. About 30 minutes later they were up and running. Due to the late hour I ran an abbreviated version of my flux tainted Klik Node game. They had a blast. Couple of highlights were the L'Na Twilight mind controlling the big bad and making him not attack for two rounds, then commanding him to overload his arc coil (electrocute himself) which broke it. At which point the Churl used a high point Gust of Wind to blow the big bad across the room (about 30 feet from middle to the wall) the gust threw him 72 feet so the force at which he hit was pretty hard (gave him full damage). That was the turning point, they took him down from there.

These three players included a 12 year old with little to no experience with rpgs, teenager who never played a an rpg before and the 12 year old's uncle who had played D&D before. You can see their reactions here:

They actually asked if we would be back on Sunday and then when we would be coming back up to run it again. They were really stoked. I may email Peter and see if he can get a group of Yugioh players together to try it and get another demo going up there. I think it would catch on with them based upon the interested we saw but could not capitalize on due to the tournament.
