See you there!

Excellent job and good "lessons learned", Lumberklik! Let us know what we can do to help the focus/draw be Untold - we'll do what we can, suren!
In regards to the movement, talk to Ben - he's working on some House Rules to Battle that may help ya out. I've pinged Nathan and hopefully he'll drop into this thread as well.
I can't wait to see pics of you and your Varm! Too cool!
How did the sleeves and markers go?
The sleeves work great. I'm guessing as long as you don't leave the marker on for long periods of time it comes off easily. (Leaving the marker on for a while might stain the sleeves.)
As a Mini Wargamer myself (Battletech, as you saw Sunday), Movement was one of my primary concerns. Jennifer and I are still hammering out the rules, and you should see some results soon!
Woot!!!

While the event wasn't a rousing success, I did come away with some ideas and feedback about the game.
First realization - you can never have too many icosahedrons stashed with your cards. One die per player should be a given, otherwise the game slows down every time someone has to hunt for a die.
Second realization - make Untold the focus of the event. Friday Night Gaming at Bobe's (which actually happens about once a month, not every Friday night) is BYOB (the second 'B' can mean books, board or box). Pretty much as long as there's table space open, you can set up and play. I snagged one table and had my binder and cards there and set up NAU and Horrors factions. Some people would swing by but were waiting for a more familiar game to open, and others wandered away once Circus Maximus started up. Unfortunately, Untold got lost in the shuffle
Third - Players liked the simplicity of (die roll + magnitude + boost - vitality) mechanic. But the two rank layout seemed too simple. (Keep in mind these are serious miniatures/wargamers -Flames of War or Canvas Eagles or Starfleet Battles). Thinking about it, maybe more ranks would allow for more strategic play. Then the ranges would reach more ranks (one away for touch, two away for short, three away for medium, etc.). The movement was also too basic. "I just say where this Grunt goes and she's there?"
On the plus side, it was the first road trip for my little bat friend - pictures are forthcoming. This was also the spot where I tested sleeving the cards and writing with dry erase marker. Nontheless, I would like to try spotlighting the Battle side of untold again, maybe even a small (100pt) single elimination tournament if enough players take an interest.
