Perhaps, like you said, the Flux simply allows them to use other dormant/hidden abilities, such as speak--probably telepathically, as well as with their suction mouths.

Nothing. For some unknown reason, this ancient animal seems to be unaffected by flux. Could it be immune because it's a remnant result of a previous incursion millions of years ago?
