Location: Verdant caves beneath post-Event Pheonix
Setting: A series of large caves beneath the boiling desert sun. The caves are lush with water, moss, fungus and strange plants that do not seem dependent upon the sun. Dappled light from an indeterminant point fills the cave complex.
Forces: A group of sentient and twisted plants and subterranean creatures (from RACES OF NEW EARTH) vs. a cobbled-together, but potent force of motley creatures (from RACES OF NEW EARTH), led by the L'na survivor of The Battle of the Seed of Ai.

Battle UP:
450 After the outcome of the Battle for the Seed of Ai, the L'na Mindlash, Ss'thoth drug it's horribly wounded body to a fissure in one of the nearby steppe wall and lay down to die. However, the Seed that grew within the L'na would not have it and slowly the Mindlash began to heal. Days passed and Ss'thoth knew that it must find shelter, as summer was at its zenith and it knew it could not survive the harsh, unfeeling desert in the middle of the New-Earth's summer. And so, the Mindlash did the only thing it could do: it retreated underground where it began to heal from the horrible, mind-rending battle's result.
Deep within a cave complex, the Seed within the Mindlash caused a deep slumber to fall over it's L'na host. There, in the darkness and amid the blood, the Seed took root and began to flourish. The energy of regeneration and growth that was embodied in the Seed seeped into the sand and rocks around it and strange plants began to grow where logically, no such things could. Unusual creatures, infused with the sentient magic of Ai, began to form, think, feel and act.
All the while, Ss'thoth slept.
Several creatures, native to the new, ruined Earth, were drawn to this new haven of water, life and energy - hidden beneath the sand, scrub and steppes of what was once known as Arizona. They came, seeking life, but through the Seed, they gained something much more. Some of them gained sentience, others new mental or physical capacities, while still others gained fantastic powers unlike any their ilk had ever known before.
Many of these creatures aligned themselves with a new menace, a being known as Vsszk, a horribly warped and evil Venus Mantrap, given sentience and mobility by the Seed. Vsszk began summoning others of its kind: hordes of hardy Thistles; as well as manipulating creatures that would have, in other settings and worlds, lived in harmony with its plant-like ancestors: Xenarthras and Issants. Vsszk's intention was to destroy Ss'thoth and steal the Seed for itself. It hungered for the full course of the Seed's power - not just the scraps that fell from the Mindlash's soul.
Ss'thoth awoke in the nick of time; only days before the planned assault from Vsszk. Whether or not it was the Seed that woke the L'na, it did not know. It only knew that an assault was forming against it. The Mindlash called out with its mental powers, summoning aid from those creatures that had gathered in the caverns around it; that the Seed had made lush and hospitable. A small army, consisting of Seed-evolved spiders, known know as Slys-ayrs, Sand Snipers, once only arthropod residents of the cave, as well as blind cave fish that had changed into Loph. Each of them answered Ss'thoth's call and arrayed themselves for battle.
